At Home Hair Balayage / Highlights: My L'Oreal Preférence Lo Sfumato Experience

Yesterday I got my first at home hair balayage / highlights experience, using L'Oreal Preférence Lo Sfumato hair dye, and today I want to share my experience with you.

I love highlights and I think that they are perfect for Spring/Summer season, so this is why I went to my local drugstore Acqua&Sapone and I bought L'Oreal Preférence Lo Sfumato n°2 hair dye (9.90 euros).

The packaging is really nice and inside there are all the tools and products you will need to get your at home balayage, which are: 3 hair dye products to mix together, one brush to apply the mixture, protective gloves and an after treatment shampoo.

L'Oreal Preférence Lo Sfumato is really easy to prepare because you only need to combine the 3 hair dye products together and then apply the mixture with the brush wherever and however you want.

I wanted to achieve a natural effect with lighter tresses and darker tresses, so I spread the mixture first of all on my hair tips and then on the rest of my hair.

WHAT DO I THINK ABOUT THIS PRODUCT?

The product is really easy to apply but at the same time I had some hard time to spread the product evenly in the areas I wanted because I have lots of hair and the mixtures tends to let the hair stick together.

Of course, the smell of the mixture is really strong and also after 10 minutes I had the hair dye on, I felt that my hair was getting really dry.

You can keep the product on for 20 to 40 minutes and since my hair was getting really dry I kept it on for 25 minutes and then I used the after treatment shampoo to rinse my hair.

FINAL RESULT:

Let me honest, this is not the result I was expecting, my hair turned just a shade lighter and I wanted more of a stronger effect, also my tips get a little bit damaged and the color didn't turned super even.

I'm not gonna say that this is a bad result, because it's not! But anyways the colour is too much warm and orang-ish and the highlights didn't came out as even as I expected.

MY FINAL VOTE: 5 out of 10
